About SaTA

The Science and Traditions Association (SaTA) aims to be the UK’s leading authority on researching TCIM (Traditional Complementary and Integrative Medicine). By focusing on research across all types of TCIM, we facilitate sharing of knowledge between professions, to support excellence in TCIM research across the range of therapies.

Our vision is to be a trusted, vibrant hub, leading the community of TCIM research. Our convening purpose sits at the centre, with conduit spokes or threads connecting this central purpose with the research community.

Our mission is to support, nurture and advise on delivering high-quality research within the TCIM community.

Our core values are:

  • Trust – providing a trusted and valued source of TCIM research advice and expertise.
  • Empowerment – of researchers, patients, regulators and providers to conduct, access, understand and apply TCIM evidence.
  • Excellence – we seek to support high quality research
  • Collaboration – by facilitating networking and collaboration between TCIM researchers
  • Diversity and inclusivity – welcoming all types of TCIM, private or NHS providers, and all career stages and research methodologies.
